Welcome & Login
All you have to do is log in to your virtual classroom using a predetermined username and password. Your virtual classroom will typically have helpful links and phone numbers for you to communicate with various departments such as academic advising and student support services.
Course View
On entering the platform the students will see the welcome notes, any new announcements and the student services that are available to all students. The “Academics Tag”, enables their students will be able to see their current modules.
Course Home Page
You will discover how easy it is to access course information and academic materials, as well as communicate with faculty and other students. When the students log in to their course, the first thing they will see is the Course Home Page. This displays announcements from the instructor, student’s coursework, course navigation buttons, and course tools the students can use to communicate with their instructor and with other students. The Students can access their course syllabus, course calendar, and all other course material from the Course Home Page. Your syllabus and calendar of assignments is always in one centralized place. You can post assignments within your classroom and access your grades when posted.
Course Syllabus
The student’s online syllabus includes all the features of a traditional syllabus: a weekly schedule, contact information, course policies and procedures.
Course Units
Each unit will require the student to do some specified reading (books are provided to all students), this could be a chapter of a book, a website or a journal. Each unit also requires the students’ to participate in discussion with peers with the guidance of the lecturer and they are also required to participate in a unit oroject, which may take the form of a brief report or essay, the students will then be asked to put it into the drop box for assessment.
Grade Book
The students can use the grade book to see exam results and any other grades the instructor has assigned to the students coursework. The instructor may assign Letter and/or Number grades and may include comments or notes with each grade as well. The Grade book also includes a feature called "user activity" with which the students can see how much time they’ve spent in their online course and in what areas of the course they have spent the most time.
The Email tool is a convenient and effective way for the students, and instructor, and other class members to communicate with each other. The students can use email to send a private email to the instructor or to another student, or they can send messages and files to groups of students.
Document Sharing
The document sharing tool lets the students upload and download documents, images, spreadsheets, and HTML pages. Students can download documents from the instructor or other students provide and then view, build, revise, or recreate. The students can then upload your changes for the entire class to view.
Drop Box
The purpose of the Drop box is to provide a central location where students can submit and retrieve assignments and graded activities. Think of the Drop box as a virtual "Outbox" and "Inbox" for the students’ course assignments:
- Students put completed assignments that are ready to be turned in to your professor in the Outbox
- Students pick up or retrieve graded or reviewed assignments from the instructor in the Inbox
The students can also attach files and documents to assignments they submit.
Journal
The journal is a place where the students can make notes and record their thoughts. It's also a place where the instructor can make specific assignments. For example, the instructor can post articles or questions in the journal and then ask the students to respond to whatever he or she posted in that students journal. The students have the option of sharing their journal entries with their instructor--the instructor can then read and modify any entries the student has chosen to share. The instructor can also create entries for the student to see in their journal.
Webliography
The Webliography course tool lets students work with their instructor and with other students to create an annotated bibliography of World Wide Web sites that are relevant to the course. Both students and their instructor can submit sites to the Webliography. The can sort Webliography entries by the date they were submitted, by category, or by the person who submitted the entry.

Student Lounge
The student lounge is a place for all students in the course to build relationships, ask questions, network, and help one another. They can use this space to hang out, ask for help from peers, form study groups, or talk about off-topic subjects.
The Threaded Discussion content item simulates traditional classroom discussions. A threaded discussion (thread) allows students to post comments to a discussion topic, react to other students' comments, respond to ideas shared by the instructor or by others in the course, and email the author of a thread. Students can log into the course whenever they want and then post to the threaded discussion at convenience. Many students enjoy using threaded discussions because they can compose their thoughts before they post a comment, respond more thoughtfully to discussion topics, and engage in lively debates that are less threatening than in a live classroom environment.
